Correct, reflector shape and lens design have the biggest affect on the pattern. And that is the biggest issue with the Blazers... the pattern is terrible. You can't start with a bad pattern, and ever expect to get anything decent from the light even with more wattage.
Spraying the reflector would likely only increase light dispersion, and make them even worse.
The Blazers were made to LOOK rugged, but beyond that no thought was put into them by the chineese designers.
