New roof lights

What do you guys think of my new lights? I replaced the two outside rectangle lights with the circular lights. These ones are high power long range. They make a perfect circle spotlight pointing straight out and hitting the ground about 75 feet ahead. The 4 roof lights are now wired to two switches, outside and inside lights. I have the switches right next to the shifter, they are red and blue illuminated switches.

I like it. Very functional looking.

You'll want to replace those blazer lights though. They honestly suck. Once you get some quality lights, you'll be much happier.

Also looks like you still need a fairlead.

Yea I'll replace those other lights soon. My fair lead is still missing unfortunately...I need to get a hold of a welder so I can make and mount a new fair lead mount and then get a new fair lead. It broke off when I lost control on black ice and went head on into a guard rail. Just haven't been able to get enough disposable cash to get myself a welder.

What would you suggest as a good set of lights? Both in the box form and semi/circular?

If you ask JD which lights he suggests... you'll be looking at about $300 for a pair of Lightforces. Hellas are good, depending on the pattern you get, also depends on the pattern you want. When I think roof lights, I think wide beam on the outsides and long range on the inside.

When I get new lights to replace the remaining two crappy ones, I will probably move them around a bit...but for now, this set up seems to be working rather well for me.

Haha, lightforces are cool indeed. But you'll notice all my lights are hella... and I'll probably stick with that brand for any future things... unless I go LED, which Hella hasn't yet seemed to embrace.

One lesson, fog patterns on the roof don't really make much sense. They are better closer to the ground.

Another lesson - for most bulbs they may also make 100W replacement bulbs. I did that on my fogs and it made a noticeable difference - and I even liked them before the upgrade.

I followed Jame's lead on the lights, I went with Hellas. The Micro FF's are good IMO. I have a set on the front light brackets and in the center of the roof bar. Then two of the 500ff's on the outside. All are driving lights though, so it's a pick your poison. I'll hopefully get pics up today or tomorrow.

Nice set up. I agree ^ Hella 500ffs are good. KC Like mine are great too, no complaints.

I was thinking about getting another pair of circular lights. Except in yellow or amber...

Im about to start on a roof light bar myself. Been thinking rectangle lights too keep some clearance but man I like round lights lol. Even if I do the rectangle lights on roof, Im still looking at a pair of 6" round lights for my bull bar, unless I come up with a winch bumper.

This is the only problem with circle lights...they are a couple inches higher than the rectangles, so this is what happens when I park at the UCONN garage when I go to class...

About 3 inches before I hit the roof...in one corner of the garage the roof gets lower and I can't drive over there...After I get body lifted i will have to park outside at the meter spots...

Hella has started to roll LED but its $$$$$ might do something similar and convert them all to HID

Would it be a bad idea to mount those taller circle lights to the hood like some of the Jeepers have?

I thought about using 1 of my roof rach cross bars to mount my lights to, but worried they will be too high then

I had played with that idea actually. Never went through with it though. There is a bolt or screw that holds down the front cowl by the wipers and window that you might be able to utilize. Would need a bracket and mounting point for the light itself though.
