Testing Led Light Bar comparing to my current setup @ Night

This had to been done long before, tonight I have made some nightshots of my visionx solstice and Hella FF75 roof light combo and compared these with a new led light bar. The visionx solstice 1100 are a combo between flood and spot beam, the led light bar has a spot pattern. Okay here we go. Biggest Distance for the lights was more then 350 meters. All pictures have bee taken by the same camera and the same camera adjustment.

Current setup:



Driving light:



Driving light and Hella front Luminator compact:



Driving light and roof lights (without Hella Luminator lights on the waag center guard)

The angle for the led light bar was not perfect, it was only temporary mounted to get a idea of what is possible. Next I have to change my light setup

Karsten, if you do that again, try putting the camera on the hood or dash and keeping it there for all pictures. Place the camera in manual mode so that the settings do not change between pictures too, because the camera can compensate for bright or dark light and make it look the same.

I do like those led bars though... I have kept my wiring intact up to the roof just in case I find a smoking deal on one.

I have thought about putting a 20" on the front bumper, mounting using a bracket back to the screws that hold the bumper cover on under the front grill. Just not sure if being that low would be very effective.

You are right James, that "testing" was done very quickly and I had no time before to plan this. One reason is that our new baby was born on the 14th this month and with now 3 kids time isn´t easy to get for myself. So when all 3 kids where in bed I grabbed my lights and the camera and called a friend that came with me "if something happens"
Interesting point was I never went offroad in the total darkness, so this was new and it showed me that some things must be done before riding in the dark.
For the camera, next time I´ll take my sigma and do the complete settings in manual mode.

For my future light setup I´ll go with a pair of these lights, replacing the 2 visionX. One of the visionX got broken (light dimmed) during the test.

For the led light bar I´ll go with a 120W 21.5 Inch version with spot beam mounted to the roof carrier between the Hella FF75 and the 2" 12W 4led work lights.

The lights will be separated switched in pairs. I´m thinking of implementing a separate kill-switch for shutting them off all together. For all the wires I need a additional sealed connection in the roof.

So today I have installed my Led Light Bar and replaced the visionX with the dual row work lights.
I have plastidipped the strut bar, looks much better now. License plate went to the solar panel frame.

I like it Karsten. That looks like a pretty nice setup. I've been wanting to get some LEDs on the roof, just because I already have wires running up there. The legality of using them on the road cautions me against doing it though, because I know I'd be tempted to use them on dark back roads. Very nice!

Yes James same situation here, the lights must be switched seperately. I would like to you use them in dark street conditions too, but its's not allowed here too. From my experience last year in sweden they were needed, never would like to drive in the dark over big potholes (and they have many of them on these gravel tracks). Next trip is going to sardinia or corsika, currently planning.
