Overwatch 2 has released a surprise content update that includes hero balance adjustments for both regular matches and the Halloween Terror game mode, Junkenstein’s Laboratory. With buffs for Ramattra and Wrecking Ball, nerfs for Orisa and Juno, and additional changes for Sombra, this patch aims to refresh the game ahead of the mid-Season 13 update.
The latest season, Season 13: Spellbinder, kicked off on October 15. Along with a variety of hero balance changes, the update introduced Junkenstein’s Laboratory, a limited-time Halloween mode that features customizable talents to enhance gameplay across different rounds.
Now, the new content update brings further balance adjustments. Ramattra’s Pummel has had its recent nerfs reversed, allowing him to punch through barriers again. Wrecking Ball has also seen improvements, with increased ammo and a longer Grappling Claw duration. On the other hand, Juno and Orisa have both received nerfs; Juno’s ultimate now heals less health per second, while Orisa has had some of her armor converted to health, a reduction in her Energy Javelin’s damage, and the removal of the heat sink feature from Fortify. Sombra’s adjustments include a slightly quicker EMP charge and a faster Stealth reaction when using Translocator, but her Hack ability will now reveal her while in Stealth.
Additionally, changes have been made to Junkenstein’s Laboratory. Various Mutations used by heroes like Ashe, Genji, Kiriko, Mercy, Moira, Orisa, and Reaper have received buffs, while D.Va, Pharah, and Zenyatta experienced some nerfs. Players have until November 4 to explore these new Mutations in the game mode.

Overwatch 2 typically implements hero balance updates monthly, aligning with bi-monthly major content updates and mid-season cycles. This unexpected update, however, showcases the new Rapid Balance Update technology, which may lead to more frequent updates in the future.
Players can look forward to another hero balance update in the coming weeks. The mid-season patch for Overwatch 2 is anticipated to be released on November 12 or 19, likely introducing even more buffs and nerfs to the hero roster. Additionally, several new Quick Play: Hacked game modes are on the horizon, setting the stage for exciting 6v6 tests when Season 14 launches in December.
