I wanted to bring some quick attention to the new ad banner that replaces the old vendor banners (which didn't bring in any revenue for ORTB). The new ads are in an attempt to supplement the donations that are received from the members - all with the same goal of further improving this site over time, and paying the bills. Hopefully this year we will be able to offset the costs of the new hosting situation, and if we can get beyond that, we'll start putting money towards other cool things for the membership.

I understand some of you (including me) run ad blocking software. It's not a problem if you do, but if you wish to support this site ever so slightly, see if you can add an exception in your software for offroadtb.com and forums.offroadtb.com, and voluntarily display the ads on this site.

This is really on a bit of a trial run to see if its worth the space usage. If you guys find any of the ads overly intrusive, or have any thoughts or concerns, please let me know.

I don't block the ads and honestly I hardly noticed they were there!

I don't think it's intrusive, but it keeps trying to sell me a jeep. If you can set it up, so that when you click the ad it takes you to a new window/tab so we don't leave ORTB, that would be nice.

Usually if you hold down control (or option on Macs), it'll open links in a new tab/window.

Chrome, FF and I think IE, you can right click and select open in new tab.

JD, does actually clicking the ads have any affect on revenue?

It does. I'd say 99% of the ads pay only when clicked. Only a small percentage are pay per impression. But please only click on ads that you actually are interested in.

Ryan, sorry - the redirect portion of the code is all wrapped up within the advertisement script, which I have no influence over.

I'd see that as acceptable use of this thread.

I keep refreshing but no Argentinean Singles Ads yet. :poke: I think the ads will slowly learn what we look at :work: as far as jeeps go, I have yet to forgive my dad's wrangler for the bucking experience years ago when I tried to learn a stick. On the two wheels in the back, then two on the front, and back again.... I prefer my TB :flex dirty:

That's the only ad I have gotten since the switch - I wonder if it is regional? I know it isn't a cookie trigger because to be honest...I only look at dodge trucks online...I've never been to Ford's site.

I think it is general cookie related. If you are looking at trucks, truck ads will appear etc.
I was looking at lawn mower parts the other day and I keep getting mowers direct ads.

I like them because they don't take vertical real estate that doesn't already have statistics in it and links I use like "view active topics".

Trailvoy is insane now with Vertical Scope's banner ads, sidebar ads, ads DISGUISED AS THE FIRST POST IN THREADS LIKE THEY'RE STICKIED, and even ads plastered across embedded pictures like they were part of the pictures. Also ads that pop up if you hover your cursor too long over a keyword somebody's paid for. Evil stuff.
