Luckily Cancun isn't in one of the biggest danger areas.

I'll be in Reynosa, Tamps. In one of the two hardest hit states by the drug wars.

Anyone have a vest I can borrow?

When are you leaving? I can have one in the mail to you tomorrow. PM me an address if your serious.

Put me on the confirmed list. The wife wont be coming as I had hoped...I guess the tire hanging off the 1500 plus foot drop off in TN scarred her a bit. May pick up a passenger or fly solo. Time to get a few things done.

Gonna be one heavy truck with my steel and all ya'lls steel. I am thinking the hi-lift and other things some people are bringing can be left at home and just borrowed if needed. I hope everyone learned how to share in kindergarten :poke:

I am pumped to go. Prolly my last distance wheeling trip til the baby is born and for the following year, but cant wait to take the little with me in a few years.

Serious note...I was thinking of how nice it was of Alek to have is portable pot and he even shared. Does anyone have one or I have a plastic chemical one but it is not the smallest and room will be at a slight premium for me. I was debating on a bumper dumper or something similar. I did fine without anything the last time, but I figure it is a good long term investment to do something for that need. Anyone have a set-up or used any version that can provide some feedback? I know having something with a seat would help the wife enjoy the outdoors a bit more.

FWIW, I have an SWR meter, and can tune CB radios there, if you've got an adjustable antenna (as opposed to a "cut to tune" style); so don't pay the $25 for the CB shop to tune it... It takes 5-minutes and uses an $18 meter that I have anyway... Well, you can pay them $25 to do it, but I'm doing it for free, so I don't know why you would...

Got mine all tuned up last week, my Dad had a meter sitting in his garage from when he was a trucker...

On another note, I just installed some stiffer springs up front (87's), threw in 2" rear spacers under the Z71 springs I've had on and re-mounted the Hella 700's on the bumper since I took off the brush guard to be able to throw the steel bumper on once we meet up.

Prob change out my oil this week as well and clean my air filter and I'm good to go! Can't wait!

Also Mike TECORE will be a good photo op/shoot to display your products on multiple trucks. Me, you, Kyle and Matt will all be rocking your bumper and skids for this trip!

So tuning my radio, I thought of something... I assume we're going to be on channel 18-22, since if a CB is tuned correctly, will be the highest output channels, in the middle of the band?

If we insist on being on 1 or something, I'll need to adjust my antenna to be there... Much like many of you, I suspect, my antenna length and mounting location doesn't lend itself to a very flat response curve, so with my SWR is at 1.4 on channel 20, but it's at like 2.5 on channels 1 and 40...

Last year, I had my CB tuned to for overall performance by a local shop. We spent the weekend on 1 without issue. Not sure what you guys will be using this time, though.

Yeah, if you're under 3, it'll be "fine"; but you'll only be outputting 1/3 of the wattage your transmitter is putting out, so you can't talk as far...

We're going to be pretty close... SWR really won't come into play. Last trip we set one guy's without SWR tuning and it was fine.

Yeah, and we pretty easily got out of range, too, and couldn't get a hold of anybody...

Does it really matter which channel we're on, to you? If not, I'd rather be somewhere around the middle, with many of us putting out twice the power we are at the ends.

Thanks,
Mike

There tends to be more chatter on the channels closer to 19. Plus CH1 is just easier for me as my CB resets to CH1 when it turns off.

We can change it if it becomes an issue. I never remembered it being one in the past...
