If my mods are close to done by then I would like to go.. Would my brother and his lifted Silverado be welcome to ride?

I think the basic rule is TB's first up to about 8 if we don't fill the spots I don't think anyone would mind.

Correct Rory, and I'll add that unless it's a wife, they'll just have to sign up as a member here and post pics when it's over!

Well... Both my military and school schedules are free that weekend... Aside from being a 15-16 hour drive I see no reason why I can't make it. Put me down for a maybe and I'll adjust accordingly as time goes by. I like the convoy idea, guess I'll need to look into a CB soon :)

You'll probably be fine. We've had an envoy denali out here once with street tread standard size tires. You may slip a little more, but should be fine. Just be SURE to bring a full size spare - that's the biggest worry to a smaller diameter tire.

I did it on 245/65-17 Destination AT, with no lift, and full armor. I spun less going up rocks and stuff than the guys with M/Ts, but I it was a noisy ride, with the armor and rock sliders banging on everything all the time...

I did flatten a tire (sidewall hole), though, partially because they were still the "P" tires, not LT tires, and the sidewalls weren't all that swift...

Ew, those are P tires, right?

Traction wise, you'll probably be fine. If not, I will have plenty of extraction equipment. Would love to have a reason to hold an extraction training session!

As I said, just be sure to bring a full size spare. You could lose one of them on a rock.

They likely are, but I've seen some of the RT/S that were D-range... If they're "P" tires, just keep them a little more inflated than you think they would need to be, offroad... Somewhere between offroad and street pressures. My issue was that the weak sidewalls were more exposed to the stupid-sharp rocks in the area, from being aired down... I ran my spare up a little higher after I flattened the one, and it still looked fine when I got done...

Where do I find the the D or P rating your talking about? I can check them in the AM when I get off.. Was pricing the Nitto Terra Grapplers from Walmart.. Looks like a good mix of tire tread for me..

drill down into the tire details and look at the speed rating.
Also, the Wal-marts around here will only install a stock size tire or a size that is already on the vehicle.

"P" tires say "P265/70-17" and "LT" tires say "LT265/70-17" with usually a "C" "D" or "E" at the end, and will say "load range C" (D, or E) somewhere near the size...
