Glad to hear plans are coming together for everyone.

Just a quick FYI, there's a chance that I might have to meet everyone at the campsite on Friday night.

I appreciate the understanding guys! I'm sure someone can take the lead for the day. There are a few guys that have been there a time or two. Surely someone can get yall to 38.506904,-79.154141 safely.

Also, wife also said unless my cold improves, I'm not allowed to go. Anyone got some quick remedies?! Seriously though, I should be over it by then... its just been one of those long dragged out crappy colds.

The best remedy i can think of, is send the wife on an errand, and leave before she gets back

But seriously,
Zycam always worked for me.

But the BEST remedy i can think of is a camping trip! Clear your cold right up, guaranteed. :D

This.

If it's a head cold then some strong herbal teas and spicy foods. Clean everything out of there. You'll breathe better and sleep better.
I own too many vehicles now. Let's leave it at that.

Well this came true. I'll be meeting you all at the campsite Friday night. Hopefully someone else there can take over the lead in getting up the mountain and maybe hitting a couple side trails earlier in the day. Any takers for the lead?

Sorry to have to do this, it's been a crazy-ass couple of weeks.

I'll have my computer with the Delorme setup, and I'll be riding shotgun, so Kyle and I can definitely take the lead.

Can you send me an email with the route we normally go up there? I can figure it out, but it would save me some time if you have the info.

Which route do you want? I've done it two ways. Both normally begin with hitting some of the smaller routes off of 33. Then to get to meadow you can take the more difficult route that requires going east and then doubling back west from those trails, or the slightly easier and quicker route of going west and then south.

I guess I can send both eh.

Yeah, send them both. It's the doubling back and stuff that I wouldn't be really sure where it starts...

For fire wood, do you guys just scavenge what you can find each night? Or does somebody bring some? I got a couple pallets left over from backyard fires this summer. I could break one up and bring some wood just in case.

Because of invasive insects, you're not supposed to move firewood more than 50 miles.

I'm probably going to bring some cut/split pallet pieces for kentling, but no real fire wood.

I'll bring my little top-handle chainsaw, so we can cut some of what's around, while we're up there. (and more importantly, clear any trees that have fallen across the trail.

ETA: Wait... Pallets of wood, or pallets to burn? If they haven't been outside for very long, I wouldn't feel bad having them cut up and in the back of the TB to burn. If you're talking about pallets of firewood, or pallets that have been outside for very long, and have any insects drilling in them, I'd say no, though.

Old shipping pallets that a place near us puts out on the road for free. They've been outside for a couple months now. I'll check them out to see if there is any sign of insects.

And in regards to the chain saw, Josh and I learned that the hard way at Wharton. A couple times, smaller trees were resting next to another tree. I could strap up to it, use the other tree to break it, and than drag it parallel to the trail. But I'm not that lucky more often than not. But anyway, I have a bow saw and an ax packed.
