I am planning to attend with some guys from JK-Forum. A built Rubi down to a basically stock one. Should be a good time. I think there are 5 of us so far.

I hear lots of things about this place. 1400 acres. Used to be a place that people just went, but now it is somewhat regulated. One of trails was awarded the BFG Outstanding Trails.

I have been told it is seriously tough and that there is lots of easy stuff...I have seen incredible videos and heard horror stories of the mud there,but have also hear dit is easy when dry. Not sure what to expect, but if you dont make this one, We can plan one. My buddy lives 30 minutes away and he has the long armed rubi 4 door on 35's and is generally always ready to wheel.

Can I make it in two wheel drive on street tires?

I would love to make the trip with you Kyle, but after my breakages last week I think I need to solve those problems before adding more.

Well after 10 hours in 4-LO and 1st or 2nd gear i can say I have seen and conquered most of Redbird. It was a great time hosted by Hi-Lift. Free entry, coupons, and koozies. They had a free lunch of some great BBQ, chips and pasta salad that was awesome. Gave prized away twice. They also had guided trail rides, but we struck out on our own. 4 JK's and myself. We also picked up some other rigs for parts of the day.

I will say thanks to my wide offset tires and sliders...they saved my ass 100's of times. Majorly tight trails that would have left me without a straight body panel if not for the tires pushing me away from trees. Some serious mud and hillclimbs and descents. 60 degrees is not an exagreation. I lifted front on a couple climbs and had to be winched up one of them because a root kept stopping my rear and then the front would lift. My tires will whitesmoke on dirt. Some cool little rock sections as well. Saw some buggies do some sweet hillclimbing as well. Got swallowed by a mud hole that 2 jk on 35s had left some slightly too deep of rut and high centered me. Was mid thigh depth when I went in to hook the winch.

Trail note---Not for the faint of heart. I hit one front fender and a rear pass door plus a couple or rear quaters, but the tires and rails kept me from any real damage. Might need some buffing, but no real dents. I do have sticks wedged between one rim and tire but just need to air down and dig them out. Unless you run wide tires and rails plan for lots of body damage. The one jeep not set wide ripped off a rear fender flare and liner then hit his pillar and ripped off his mirror.

Side note--we were not on the trails 30 minutes when we stopped for trailtraffic and watched some yota's trying a hillclimb. The second one flopped on its side and we scrambled down and righted it. He then did a few fixxes and made the climb.

I was going invite you Mike, but I figured the bro in law needed to try offroading for the first time.

Definitely impressed some jeepers and was stopped a couple times by people amazed at where it was going and had been. I was pretty well told we wouldnt make a trail but we did. I hope someone got pics of it because i was out of memory.

This hill was ridiculous. We spent 45 minutes trying to find a way through those trees up on that hill, but no go. Finally we had to take that hill down and right back up the other side since reversing out was not possible. Was a wild ride but we got it done.

Looks awesome, but if I were to go there, I would have to spend a few days to go to Badlands too. It's almost the other corner of the state! I hope those Jeep guys were impressed!

Thanks for all the pics - looks like a fun time, other than wading around the mud pit to get your winch line hooked (I thought that's what passengers were for ) I know, I know.. Comes with the territory!
