I just got my new 2003 Trailblazer LS home! 2500$ with 219km on it. The front diffeential needs to be fixed, but it shouldn't cost much. I cannot wait to lift it and make it awesome.

What's wrong with the front diff? You can pick up a used one for about $200 and swap it out.
Look in the glove box and find the rears ratio
GU6- 3.42
GT4- 3.73
GT5- 4.10
G80- locking rear diff

We're not sure yet, I think it is the front disconnect, where the CV axle connects to the front diff. Me and my dad are going to get it in the garage and do some tests on it.

Congrats on joining the cool kids club. I think you've got a good deal of reading to do ahead. We've put together a pretty comprehensive troubleshooting flow chart for the 4wd system. Easy enough to find. The differential and disconnect are two separate items and on opposite sides of the oil pan. The disconnect (aka disco) is on the passenger side and is a common failure. A lot more common than the front diff failing. (a lot cheaper and easier to fix, too.)

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have the gt4 and g80 like I said. We have troubleshooted the issue, and we believe it is the front disconnect. We are going to designate a weekend to rip the passenger side wheel off and make sure it is the front disconnect, or if it is the actuator. Luckily however, I have a brother in law that has a slightly older chevy he is parting out, so I may be able to use parts from it. He also knows a guy who has a trailblazer which fried the engine, but the rest works, so I should be able to get parts. I am so excited to get this thing on trails. After the 4wd is good, I will be doing a 3" lift from MarkMc and new Z71 springs in the rear, new shock absorbers and struts, and some 32" general grabber tires. Now I just need money. ;(
