Wheel bearing or tire noise?

Is there any real tell tell signs of weather the noise I'm hearing going down the road is a wheel bearing going out or just tire noise. I'm running cooper at3 that are probably 1/2 worn.

Rotate your tires and see if the noise stays the same or moves.

I just had that done last week and and still have a humm.

I had a noise similar to that. And it turned out that my brake pad clips to hold the brakes in place had broken on each side and the brakes would never fully retract and it made a humming noise. Might be worth looking at.

I'll check that out thanks. Any other things I should look for once I get it jacked up. And wheels off?

I tried that and it doesn't really seem to change when turning.

How long do the oem wheel bearing last most of the time. Mine is an 05 with 105k miles and as far as I know they are stock (I've had it for 5 years and 50k miles).

I got over 100K including part lifted.

Both of mine were gone at about 135,000 km (85k miles)

The OEM bearings seem to fail a good bit slower than after market also. I remember when I replaced mine, I really couldn't tell with the bearing itself. I could drive straight until I heard the noise, then veer a little left or right and you could hear the noise change. Even with the stock bearing out it just felt like maybe the grease was a little thick. With my aftermarket you could tell they were worn by rotating in your hand.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm thinking it's just tire noise. Maybe when they did rotate them they did get a little noisier. But when I turn back and forth the sound doing really change. And it just get a little noisier at about 45 and up. I'll give it a little more time and if it get worse I'll switch them out.

Generally the standard way to tell was on longer sweeping highway turns the noise would change if it's the hubs/bearings, but I do know off at least once where there was no obvious noise noticed until the envoy was impossible to drive straight and brake components were coming into contact with each other necessitating a convenience store repair.
