I started to put together a list before compnine went down. I don't have all of the codes, but I have a lot.

7SP is the 1512883. I can't find 6SR on my list.

Thanks that helps a lot. I am looking at 88s for the front and with all the GM ones out of stock I found these on MOOGs page as a replacement for our springs. if I calculated James' spring rate correctly this should put the rate close to the 88s.

Moog 5282
Coil Spring Dimensions
End 1 Type End 2 Type Inside Diameter Bar Diameter Install Height Load Spring Rate Free Height
Square Tangential 4.040 .718 10.50 2810 411 17.50

yes for the stiffness discussion, I have a heavy bumper and winch installed.

anyone running these moog springs or considering them????

I'm running Moogs. Mine were more like 85s as I was a little scared to go too high. They made absolutely no difference in the ride height.

At the same time I did the springs I installed new HD Bilsteins. I love the ride, but it's no taller than stock.

Another thing, the Moog springs are pretty rusty after one year and one winter. The factory springs still looked good after nine years.

Remember, spring rate is only half the equation. You also need to know the spring's free length to understand the effect on ride height.

Please tell me if I'm correct, I believe most of our springs are roughly 16" or so? Do we have any area of play? I was trying to stay as close to that but thought 17" would be the as long as I could go?

The longest spring is actually the softest spring, at 16.5" long. The stiffest spring comes in at almost 16" exactly.

I used some 89 springs when I installed my lift and it made a pretty big difference. Even weeks later, after the front has settled, the front is almost level with the back on z71 springs.
I had mine right beside another lifted 360 that used 83 springs in the front and the difference was pretty staggering.

With 17.5" long springs the coils are going to be pretty close together. It's hard to say if you'll get any coil bind as that'll have a lot to do with the stiffness of the springs and how hard you come down on the front end during obstacles or bumps and how much weight you have at the front. If you use em take some measurements after the install... I have about 5/8ths" in between coils with only a oilpan skid plate. I haven't seen any evidence of coils hitting yet.
With those moog springs (if they are similar to the 88s) your only issue would be how close the coils are when installed with the lift spacer.

I'll do that. The Bilstines came in today so as soon as I decide on a spring I'll post some pics.

OK, so anyone looking for springs I have learned that the Moog spring has to be pigtail on one end and tangential on the other!!!!!!!

I hate learning things this way.........

How are you liking the moog springs?
