I'm shooting for the 67" for my LT (standard length), not sure if the 78 may be a bit too long on the EXT...maybe someone else knows better?

Yeah I meant 67" lol. I'm most likely going to buy these but I'm still def going to look around for some other places and see if I can find some other styles at 67"

Most get the 78" and cut them down 2 inches so rubbing doesn't happen .You want max protection, also I have seen them cheaper on summit racing with free shipping .

That's what I was thinking. I measured and It looked like something in between 76" and 72" would be perfect. I found an old thread one here for custom ones, but I'm not sure if there available for order anymore, so it might be my best option to buy the 78" and cut it like you said.

Got a new tarp for the canopy/awning (8'x10' silver/brown for sun and light relection) and spaced out my canopy poles. They're now fixed just shy of 4', front to back; and extend 90" past the stock roof rails.... bungee the tarp around the tailgate and I have a full 8' of sun coverage, from the front of the rear door to more than half way down the tailgate.

Simple design... the support poles and tarp are all you have to carry. The telescopic 'beams' are mounted to the underside of my roof rack (1",3/4",1/2"). Pretty cheap for how sturdy it is...

Tomorrow I fix that second light.

I would definitely go with these, not the trail gear if i was doing it again. I would love to have the bump out for keeping the body off stuff.

I have 67 and with the couple inches out of the front fenders they have not failed to protect at all. Bit of gap at each end, but at the time they were the best option.

Good find Kyle, I'd wanted to do a bump out like that to help nudge around stuff, but I didn't have a tubing bender at the time. Those look like a really nice option.

Pretty spiffy lookin canopy you got there James!

The All Pro ones on my GF's FJC have that bump out, it's pretty nice to scoot around roots and logs. Makes it easier to stand on too lol.

Found these also: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Round-1-3-4-Rock- ... 0408.m2460

Kind of like the design better and looks a like it would be a little stronger, plus the guy said he'd be willing to custom make it to 74" in length. What do you guys think?

I would think the other ones would be stronger. If you sat your truck on that kickout, it seems it would rotate easier than the longer one.

Because the others have more of a curve to them and those have a sharper angle? Is that what you mean?

The ones Kyle linked, the outer portion with the kickout, is one piece all the way from rear to front, with stringers in between. If you drop your vehicle onto it, it has to bend every one of those stringer's, or bust all the weld's in order to get jammed up against your door's or damage your body.

The one's you linked, the kickout it just one small piece. It is welded right back into the main bar almost immediately, it only has to bend/bust one thing to get jammed up against your door.

See here? Much more area and extra supports to take the strain. I jack from these without a care.

Sometimes my explanations aren't as clear as I think they are lol. In the real world, it probably doesn't matter, but, for a few bucks, I'd take this style lol.

No I agree with you. That few bucks can save you a trip to the body shop. What do you think of this design?

I'm sure that's stronger yet, you just don't want to get carried away either.

I've scribbled up a few designs similar to the one you drew when I've considered rebuilding my sliders, looks like something I would build. I dig it.

At the end of the day I reckon most sliders you see would do the job. Some may be slightly stronger or more rigid than others, but they'll likely all bounce off of rocks and lift the vehicle up all the same.

Had to do a brake job and a seal job on the rear axle.

Haven't don't anything yet but I dragged this home yesterday. A fellow member and I bought it off a dude building a street rod with the SS motor and tranny. My partner and I got this heap for $500, he took the doors and I got the axle. :) We've post pictures on a SS Facebook page and we are already actively get pm's for stuff were selling.
