Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

I applied a rust protection under my rig and on his frame today. Good thing to do here at Quebec. The winter season is really tough for the body parts.

After feeling the shame of mounting lights under my bumper, I half donkied some mounts and got them on top. Also did little testing of the new setup and i must say the BFG's love picking up and throwing rocks.

Spent the last few weeks, putting on the SS Brake upgrade, new ball joints, new brake fluid, and the usual oil change. :mechanic: Of course the hardest part was getting her clean after a few months without a bath... :flex dirty:
The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

Nothing much, just finished up a couple week's work on it. Replaced my locked-down '02 4.2 with an '06 4.2

Oh, and I also successfully converted my AWD Bravada to selectable 4wd, no big deal.

I just dropped the TB off at the shop for front strut top bushings and alignment, plus wheel balance, since I could feel a little bounce at speed. It should be ready by 3:00 today.

Caleb, that thing looks good, not too extremely high either, from what I can tell. Can't wait to read some details on the build.

The local tire shop had the TB all ready to go at 3:00, as promised. It's great to have the clunk gone from the strut mount, and she rolls smooth as silk again with the alignment and balance done. They even cleaned the tires and wheels. Sweet!

I'm not big on bumper stickers, but sometimes you can add things without them being tacky...

Corny maybe, but not tacky. :D Anyone who's seen my Halloween pics will understand though. And yes, they are on both sides, and the window was washed before I put the on (the dirt smudge came from hosing down the rest of the truck afterwards). Now I just have to remember to avoid those spots when scraping ice this Winter.

For anyone interested, I got these from Wreckless Decals (ebay). Very nice quality foil stickers, fully cut out.

I ordered stepper motors last week to replace the failing ones in my cluster. At that point, Speedo, Oil Pressure (lol) and fuel had all died, fuel being the last straw. $15 via Amazon, no biggie and picked up a solder wick. Everything went smoothly after I got the wick, but during my process of trying to remove the solder prior to said wick, I damage the contacts on one side of the speedo stepper at the board. The base plates pulled away from the board, so new solder will not seat and connect properly. I'm going to have to figure out a solution without buying a whole new board. The gauge is irrelevant for my needs as I have a ScanGauge correcting the speed, but still like to have it working.

Get some 24 gauge wire and wrap it around the leg then with X-Acto blade carefully scrap the green covering off the trace and solder to it

Degreased and touched up the frame with a little underbody spray.

Hmm I used some rubberized undercoat that came as a spray paint (can't tell if that's what yours is too?) on the inside of my front bumper and the tow loops. It looked fairly black when I first sprayed it, but the tow hooks quickly faded to a dark grey, similar to the plastic body trim. I should take a look at the inside of the bumper one of these days and see if it also faded, and how it's holding up after two years of being on the road.

Decided I needed a better looking bumper than the factory steel crash protection. So since money is tight and I had some pipe laying around I made my own. I still have to finish the welds off and some paint but here's what I got so far.

Trux, I dig it, I like how you followed the lines of the truck, goes a long way towards aesthetics.
