Bought some new cookware and came up with a genius storage spot for my over-the-fire grilltop.

I've had this for years. I was keeping it in the cab, but it would get too covered in tasty grill-goo... But it was always dirtying up anything else around it. I know this location will get it covered in dirt/mud/etc. but hell, it's going to get put over a fire and scrubbed with a grill brush prior to use, so no biggy. I had to cut out a small section to get the bracket to fit through, but no modifiations to truck necessary.

Got rid of the air ride suspension, installed Raybestos XL/EXT springs and insulators, and replaced the front swaybar bushings. Gained about 1 1/2" over the air springs at the center of the wheel well, and I now have about 3" of rake. It level out the front too. Used to be almost an inch lower on the passenger side. Now they are the same. Must've been a leaky air bag, they were in bad shape.

On the down side. I checked the axle disconnect, and found quite a bit of play at the inner CV. Guess a rebuild may be in order. :(

I really like the idea of using the spare tire area for something like this. Us member up north won't have to bring salt when grilling steak.
I have toyed with the idea of some type of storage box or a water container in that spot.

You could get yourself few of these disposable grill toppers also

Bacon, I like it, but I don't like the spare tire winch. That thing gets jammed sometimes, especially if there isn't enough weight pulling on it. But I DO really like the idea of using that space. I've been wanting to put either a secondary gas or water tank under there... in due time I guess.

Jam... I mean, Trail X: Yea, the winch gets to be a pain in the ass if there's no weight on it. Luckily for this application, it only has to be lowered a few inches to get the grill on/off.

Roadie: If I'm purchasing the same things as you, without knowing you've already bought them, that gives me a special level of confidence :) After all Bill, you are my inspiration/mentor that got me headed down the right trail(s)

I raised my radiator.
I decided to go electric fans which meant my fan and shroud are no longer tied to the height of the engine. so I cut off my radiator mounts. I shortened them 3" and welded them back on. I did not have to change any hoses or anything.
I'm really happy with the results. I hope to have better air flow, less damage risk, and I now use the OEM upper radiator mount with my body lifted truck.

Smart change. Makes complete sense with a body lift. Any issues with the engine coolant hoses or transmission lines?

And Bacon, you can still call me James or JD, its still my name.

The coolant hoses moved with no visible change. The transmission cooler lines only needed a little massage to clip back into all its brackets.
I am still scratching my head on how/where to mount the power steering cooler. My 2 ideas are...
1. Move it up into the grill area and zip tie it too the A/C condenser.
2. Try to find 2 Trans coolers. One for power steering fluid and one for Transmission fluid. I would mount them side by side in front.

I have that configuration. I got a little 5"x5" cooler I'm using for PS cooler. It sits right next to my trans cooler which is like 8"x11"

Fixed my exhaust leaks. Deleted my suspect to be bad cats. Truck feels and sounds better. PCMforless tune in a few weeks.
