Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

2nd Bad U-joint... I think.

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Can you describe the issue again? Its an extra clunk when you downshift, or switch between d and r? In your videos, it would help to understand what gears you are in, and what the state of your vehicle is (tires on ground, lifted off ground, etc).

If you're in park while you're moving your prop shaft that much, it does seem excessive. But it doesn't make much sense for it to be the transfer case, unless you were in lo gear. In hi, the power doesn't go through any gears, just a splined connection. More clarity is needed. Don't be afraid to over communicate with words. I'm not sure we're getting what you want us to get from your videos alone.

It's seems to only happen when I am slowing down to a red light or for a turning car, then I hit the gas moderately, and about a second later I get a clunk and or harsh shift when the power is applied from the engine to the drive train. It only seems to occur only in situations like that. If I slow to a yield sign and brake almost to a stop and hit the gas not hard but not real light, I get that hard shift. I don't think it's a "shift" though. It feels exactly like the tranny shifts and then the power is sent to the shaft and somewhere between the tail shaft of the transmission and wheels there is like "slack" so to speak and when the trans shifts this slack is absorbed but gives off a sounds and noticeable feel. Hope this helps.

No vibrations at all. Everything seems to be normal except for that.

I believe this is what is causing my noise. I'm almost certain it is, but what's my next move? Here's what it sounds like:

Have you greased your slip joint on the rear shaft? From your description, it could be dry and sticking.

I'm getting what I would call "slop" in my drivetrain,

I have the same thing going on! The other day while pull my trailer I noticed excess amount of backlash coming from my drive train. Thinking that I had screwed up on the rebuild of the TB's rear differential or hopefully just a bad U-joint. So I jacked her up, u-joints checked out ok. Then I pulled the wheels and dropped the rear differential cover, contact looked good and backlash checked out ok. Last was checking the transfer case,,, lo and behold it's coming from the transfer case. I changed out the fluid 40K miles ago when I installed the rebuilt trans and it was ok then. Oh well, it looks like a transfer case rebuild is in the cards Image.
