Mayhem's aftermath - The re build

Hey guys, so to make a long story short. I was traveling with a friend, we had just finished shooting a movie in Winnipeg, Canada. Were were taking the trans canada highway back. I trip that is just over 2000kms, over some of the most dangerous winter roads in Canada. Will coming down an terribly steep cliffside, we hit black ice and went into a spin. If the guard rail didnt stop us, we would have went right over the cliff, and surely died.

THE DAMAGE: This is the major stuff, but there is also some minor things here and there

Once we stopped spinning, and bouncing off of snowbanks and guard rails, we got out to check my truck for damages.

1. Spare tire carier is bent, spare fuel carrier is destroyed beyond repair. But this did stop the tail gate, and lights from being destroyed.

2. Spare tire and wheel were broken off of the carrier and sent flying. The wheel aprears to be fine, but the studs holding it on were broken right off.

3. Both front and rear bumper will need to be replaced.

4. Alignment check needed, tire balance and rotation

5. Passenger side head lamp

6. center piece for grill

7. wheel liner

8. replace passenger side front fender

9. blend dent on passenger side door



At the end of the day, I was able to drive the truck all the way home. She saved my life. And remarkably with minimal damage. On a good note, I will soon be the owner of a totally radical and custom made bumper from Barton with a winch mount, hitch mount and all the goodness that comes in between. and a rad skid plate. So with the bad, comes some good. My truck will look like a million bux once were done.


Now to take a step back, the other day my trans failed. I lost forth gear. Turns out the band is is bad, and the clutch packs. So the trans has been dropped and being rebuilt by mister transmission with HD parts to prevent this from happening again, and peace of mind. Not only with the front of my truck be solid, but now the trans will be too.

Ill post pics and updates as things come along. The bumper wont be here for a while, Mike has to make it up special.

I better be ready for tecore this year hahahha now Ive got the truck to handle it.

We are not going to go through insurance. All out of pocket.

But in the end , im ok, the truck will live again. and been even more purty

Sounds like a crazy ride. Glad you made it out safely and without being stranded in freezing weather. The TB seems to have done you well. Hope to be able to help with your new armor. Sounds like it should be pretty sweet.

To the truck for keeping you safe

The day after I got back from my long trip my transmission died. I lost 4th gear, heres why......






I ended up to a total rebuild, along with a transgo kit for the valve body. Rabestos Zpack clutches for extra grabbing power, ad high heat tolerances, the "best" sun shell, HD 4th drum, HD wider clutch band, and a few other things.

I am very happy since I got my truck back, she shifts soo smooth. And has no problem sitting in 4th gear at times it used to.

Hahaha its not a paying gig anymore . Im trying to keep $200 stashed away for tecore. That way, I have very little to save for when the time comes. Cuase now MAYHEM is ready! But its been hard.

I have a front end vibration, but only when in 4wheel drive. My self and my boss check the U joints in the drive shaft from front diff to the transfer case, they were fine....then we checked the cv's and they look fine as well . Im gonna start another thread specifically for the problem. But I did end up finding out the top ball joint on driver side needs to be replaced as well. I highly doubt that the ball joint would be the cause.

Slowly Ill get the truck running in tip top shape. I plan on cleaning the crank shaft position sensor, TB, and changing out the spark plugs.
