Herculiner Fenders, Doors, and Grille

Well, as most of you know, I'm not gentle on my TrailHazer. And since my truck is out of service for a few days while I'm waiting for the new coil pack, I figured now's the perfect opprotunity. As expected, on the fenders I followed the lines that are built in and angled it forward at the front to flow from the MDB Bumper. On the doors, I did the bottom 8", plus the "slider" area. I didn't bother doing any portion of the rear bumper yet. I'll probably pull it off and do it seperatley, if i do it at all. Not sure how I like only 8" of the door, so I might add more later.











On the grille, it used to have a half ass pasti-dip/rattle can job. This time i put the extra effor into disassembling the grille and painted each item individually. I used the Herculiner on the bar and non-reflective tan camo paint on the rest. I chose to leave the bowtie as is. Figured one part of it could be shiney.

Hmm, wonder what it would look like without the plastic moulding (or is it molding? Too much cake...)? Other than that, looks really good!

looks pretty alright to me!

did you use the thin 1/8" masking tape followed by the blue tape or just the blue? Is it pretty easy to control that stuff with the roller?

I just used the blue 1" tape. Plus some 3" tape around the tougher/tighter spots Didn't have 1/8" tape, but i would've preferred using it.
The roller is really easy to control, you just got to put it on thin at first then keep rolling over it once it gets tacky; otherwise it'll run on you. Subsequent coats are really easy. I'd have a new box of gloves when you start this project. I must've gone through 10-12 pairs in the two days it took me to do it.

I like the molding there as another layer of armor. Helps protect against door dings, especially.

I used to think that until I came out of the grocery store and saw an elderly gentlemen hit my truck with his door. I'm tall enough that rock sliders are the only thing that'll prevent door dings now it seems.

It can be one step lower priority than moving to a state where the wheeling is worthy of rock sliders.

I'm glad you feel that way. I'm also glad your rear diff didn't explode from when i noticed your bottom 5 bolts missing... oh also the time i noticed one of your axle nuts had gone AWOL, and had to give you my spare...
