Hope not. That would attract hazing like when I mounted my first tow hooks to the bottom of the radiator skid plate. Damn, I was a dumb noob. Second picture shows how I had to tug the skid plate back the first time I dug the hooks into a rock and the radiator moved the shroud and jammed the fan.

I put a piece of angle iorn in the undterside of the bumper to give it strengthand that bolts in to the frame. Im not that dumb come on and its only a temp thing.

When it comes to needing a winch, there's never such a thing as too much, perhaps too big, but never too much. If it fits, it's not too big either.
You never now what you will be pulling yourself or someone else out of.

Oh I do a little lol. got a 3000lb jeep stuck so bad I stalled a 8000lb winch out, plus I also started to pull the full size truck to my jeep when we hook up a snack block lol.

your gonna kill air flow to your radiator... and mmmmm you kinda stole my idea but mine is much different and wont be bolted to that , plus you wont be disapointed with the xrc 8 it got me out of a few jams

I know on the jeep boards they advise 3X your vehicle weight but with a 3k lb Jeep, a 9k winch is no big deal. When you get to a 5k lb TB though it might be tough to swing a 15k winch. I guess it depends on where you are going.

I believe the winch size standard is 1.5x the GVW.
