I have wanted to do this for a while, and finally remembered to pick up the parts while I was at Lowes. Since the MAXXlinks are only rated for stock-2" of lift, I thought the 3.5" from Marks spacer and the Z71 springs created the need for a little modification. Assuming that you already have SMAXX links, this can be done in 1/2 hour and is very easy on the wallet.
Needed:
(2)3/4"x4" galvanized plumbing nipples
3/4" wrench
9/16" wrench
I started by removing the end links one at a time with the 3/4" wrench. Here's what it looks like after a year on the truck:
Using the 9/16" wrench, I removed the bottom nut and disassembled the bottom half of end links. The inside washers have to be inverted, otherwise the assembly is too long to use the original bolt. So I inverted the top inside washer, replaced the original sleeve with this:
I inverted the bottom inside washer, reinstalled everything else just as it came off, and loosely attached the bottom nut:
Reinstalled on the truck and they are good to go. Overall, I gained @1" inch of length, and they are slightly more rigid because of the nipple I used.
Back on the truck:
