Well, not to some... Just depends what you're doing. A locker would be pretty insignificant to someone who never drives off pavement...

Having done the removable seat mod allowed me to put my 6 gallon water containers right behind the seats, helping to keep that weight more centered in the vehicle rather than at the tail end where I would have put them.

So while it's an insignificant gain, it was useable space gained.

I would regularly sleep in the back and being 6'3", removing the seat bottoms and head rests let me stretch out diagonally. I also like the "protected" area under the seat back that is created when the seat bottoms are out and the seat back is lowered down, that is where I would store items such as fishing rods when camping.

I might do this and make a removable platform for the dogs. We have a German Shepard and English Mastiff that love adventures. It should give them more space than trying to fit both of them in the seats.
