Upgraded Mirror w/ amber turn signal and defroster

So a few of us with the LS or LT probably just have the standard power mirror. Well, since I lost the forward facing black cover on both of my mirrors, I decided to swing by the local junkyard to see what I can find.
Found a 2002 Envoy SLT which was equipped with amber turn signals in the bottom of the mirror and defrosters. Took the mirrors off of that and brought them home (along with some other "trail spare" parts i found). To my pleseant surprise, it's a plug-n-play mod that requires NO extra wiring or work. I know it seems like a simple, irrelevant mod, but I'm excited for it.

Procedure is identical for both sides.
Pull back door panel just enough to get your hands back there and pop off window/lock swich panel



Center plug is for mirror (on both sides)



Pull out weatherproofing and loosen the (3) 10mm nuts.




Once all three nuts are off the mirror will still be held in (loosely) by a spring tab. Just wiggle and pull!

Then installation is the reverse procedure!

That defrost on the mirror would be nice in the winter, pretty cool to see how simple it is.

It does! Used it the last three mornings to clear the dew off my mirrors so I could see.

But you would know that if you drove the rig.

My owner's manual doesn't have that chapter... i might just be all the time heated. or it'll go off with the rear defroster. If someone who has this feature stock could read throug their manual and tell me it'd be appreciated.

It's connected to the rear window defroster and that way you can turn it on / off. When turned on it switches off after a time round about 5 Minutes. Standard in all Trailblazer LTZ.

Was just about to say that's how it works on ours.

Mine often works faster than the rear window defroster. So you can usually turn them back off before the auto-shut off engages.

well, I work nights and get off shift around 6am, when the dew/condensation is at it heaviest. I use my front and rear defrost every morning. so in FL the defroster is to be renamed de-fogger or de-condensationer. Just like coolant vs antifreeze.

You know why I like you? You just do it. You don't post up asking first if anybody's done it. You search and see. You don't post up asking for a ten page writeup with pictures because you're a "visual learner." You make it up as you go along if you have to. You don't PM me asking me to look up the connector diagram so you can check it out first, only to tell me you don't have a voltmeter and convince me you're wasting my time. You find the empty mating connector and assume it's there for a reason.

Moving across the country lets me sleep better at night, too. Not going to get any of "those calls."
