It got me thinking, if you sealed off the bottom of the air box that should almost work as a snorkel for water crossings and it looks much better to me.

Eh... maybe... Wouldn't work so well when things happen like Kyle at Attica when he went through that big mud puddle, and it came up over the hood and windshield as he went down into it, but the airbox was fine...

tbangert, I see in your build thread that you're designing a bumper and skids that you're going to make for your TB... Shoot me a PM or an email or whatever if you've got any questions, or want to run through some ideas or whatever... If I can save you some cutting it back apart to solve a problem that I came up with a fix for a year ago or whatever, I'm happy to help out... (free of charge, of course)

That goes for anybody else on the forum, as well... I'm not going to just straight up give somebody prints and flat pattern files for my stuff, but I'm happy to help you with design pointers or be a second set of eyes on a design that you're making for yourself... I'm a Design Engineer at my real job, so most of this is every-day stuff...

Dirty Anton: nice SAS setup you got on your TB. What gears are you running and are the 60/14 locked?

thanx! the front and rear are locked. (detroit lockers). the 60 came with 410 gears and the 14 bolt i came across was in really good shape and it had 410 gears as well so i stuck with them. im suprised it has as much if not more power as before (with the 373 stock gearing) since these are heavy 1 ton axles and big tires.

I am hoping you will be writing a report on this set up of yours. Looks like a purposeful and thought out arrangement.

Agreed... this looks like it will need its own thread and full documentation. I'm sure Karsten is working on it... :poke:

Can I get someone who has cut their front fender wells to post a close up pic of your fender after cut? Im having to cut the back side of my front fender well bigger and have in my head how I want to do it but want to see what others did. Im rubbing with it flexed and going to try to get 1 more off road trip in before I go into surgery again next tuesday.

Ok thanks. After looking at them Its real close to what I had in mind as well. I was originally thinking about going all the way up to the curve of the wheel well with my cut but after seeing yours it looks as though I might not have to. Thanks again

Mike B, who did all your welding for the SAS and all? Was that all you? just curious... it would be nice to know another local fab guy other than the one I've used so far.

80cf tanks? That's quite a bit! At 15-20cfh, I get around (1) 11# spool of .035 wire per 80cf tank...

I did the whole 12-point roll cage and all the skid plates and everything on the rally car with a Lincoln 180 and 75/25...

I currently run a Miller 211, but am half thinking about getting a 252 next year, if the "bidniss" keeps rollin' like so... The duty cycle on the 211 for 3/16" steel is better than most of the other 220V units, and FAR better than any of the 120V units, but I keep running into the duty cycle on the bumpers if I don't weld for 15 minutes and grind for 10 minutes or whatever... I'll probably keep the 211 for portability and 120/220V multi-voltage ability, but I hope to move to a bigger, badder welder with a nearly untouchable duty cycle limit, at some point...

one of the tanks had a leak i think at the regulator so that one didnt last long at all. but all in all the welder worked out great. has paid for itself 10 times over for the amount of welding done. some of the my friends weld but i always had to wait a long time for something simple to get done. bin using a stick welder over the years for small projects but it wasnt till i got the mig welder that all these doors opened up.
