I'm selling my Trailblazer. I need a car I can use for a 25 mile (one way) commute where 4x4 isn't required anymore. Either way I am strapped for cash and this is the only way I can afford a new car right now.

I'm looking for some opinions and experience here. What does anyone think I can get for my TB? (Build thread link should be in my signature)

A lot depends on how fast you have to sell.
I read somewhere one time you can usually re-coupe about 1/3 of add-ons in a resale over the TMV.

Not knowing your market you might be better off going back to stock and selling your add-ons separately.
It all depends on the buyer, if you find the right buyer they might get you closer to actual value.

My best guess, a rough KBB estimate (with 150k miles) is about $3500. If you have $3k in add-ons I might start at $6k if you're not in a hurry to sell and see how it goes.

In your area though a lifted truck might garner a premium price though so you might ask more.

If I were selling your TB here, I would likely take any offer over $5k.

Whelp there goes the closest lift TB to me  Its cool. I'd part the lift and other things and strip your TB back to stock and sell it that way. I know 88s will sell here faster than anything else The control arms would go fast too, lift and spacers might take a while but will sell none the less. In fact I know someone who is looking for spacers I think. I'd be interested in your Z71s(if you do decide to go back to stock). All in all this is what I'd do if it was my TB.

Expect nothing for your lift or mods. In fact they typically hurt resale due to making the buyer pool smaller.

hmmmm, too bad we are trying to get a house right now. I would think about buying the whole thing and selling mine. oh well if you do part it out maybe I might buy some parts if I can squeak it out. Hate to see you go though!

I paid $6000 for mine a year or so ago with 140000 miles, it was one of the best looking ones I could find in the area that wasn't from one of the small shaddy Detroit dealers.

:Iagree: that and more wear and tear on the drivetrain to the normal buyer

Well I can only hope to god that someone is looking for a lifted "something other than a jeep." I would like to rejoin the community here in a few years. Though I'm not sure if I will be going back to a TB. Solid axles are just so alluring.

lol very tempting but I guess most of the fun is building it myself, and one of the nice things about the house we are most interested in is the large garage/barn where I can finally have my shop. Plus we are finally getting out of the city :excited: besides the I put all the work into the wifes jeep so now she can help me build the TB :coffee2:

Tom, I would just try listing it at $6000. Do you have a good location to put it by the side of the road? also use craigslist, ebay classifieds, mlive and for a fee you can use autotrader. Just try being as discriptive as possible from milage to damage and upgrades and I am sure you will sell it in no time.

Yeah but his is "one of a kind." Not a single other lifted TB exists!!!

it might be one of a kind "front sub frame drop with differential drop".
I know guys on here have talked about it but I didn't know that it had been done.

He was around but ran off when we asked for real pics. Looks like it was not done real well and he said it would not be wheeled. He was a kinda dick about it and really skated around when real questions and info was asked for.

Look on trailvoy for most of the limited info on it.

Yah, we engaged him in a very short discussion and it was clear he didn't think it would stand up to a real beating. He was a professional steelworker and fabbed the drop spindles / steering knuckles that you need to drop the diff below the oil pan. Lift companies do this for many other platforms, and I spent a huge amount of time in the early days lobbying and meeting lift company engineers at shows. They always claimed there would be a limited market for us and they were right. They would have never recovered their R&D investment.

For the average home mechanic who didn't have access to a steel shop that could do everything including heat treating, this mod would be tougher and cost more than a SAS. It was a wonderful proof of concept to show it COULD be done,. To the owner, it was a way to show off his skillz, not as a way to tackle tougher trails. He wasn't doing this for offroading, so that tainted the whole project.

To sell this as a "professional modification" borders on illegality in many states. He was a professional steelworker, to be sure. But it was NOT designed with professional engineering (finite element) analysis, or using the resources of a company who has been in the business of making and supporting lift kits. There are no spare parts. You could never buy a replacement spindle. If it breaks on the trail or at the mall you have ZERO recourse because the individual involved has no professional liability insurance. He's betting his net worth that the truck never breaks.

See the problem? He should be selling it for LESS than blue book for a non-lifted truck. Not at a premium. If anybody buys it, they need to carry both steering knuckles for spares in case one breaks, and the diff is going to drag on the ground if they do that repair on the trail.

That he's not marketing the truck here or on GMTN is yet more proof he's not serious.

I called that guy before I knew ANYTHING about lifting these trucks. Because he's local to me, I wanted to see what he had done. He wouldn't let me come look at it. From what I understand, he's been trying to sell it for a long time.... for a reason....

IF you do decide to part out your add on's please PM me about the Massive control arms & Panhard Bar. I will buy those off of you, and drive up there and swap my stock parts out for them as part of the deal.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Dang it! Why didn't I think of that! lol

***EDIT***
Scratch that. It would cost me $280 (half the cost of new ones!) to drive up there.
