No kidding I hadn't ever heard of em.....

I usually try and give a fellow wheeler or friend who may need money the chance to make some cash before I fork my money over to some store. If this should fail however radioshack is exactly where I will be heading.

I got a little cheap cobra from walmart for like $40.
It was a good little radio for the hunting club.
I had to look elsewhere for the antenna cables. I already had the antenna's.

That's a few hours drive for me, it's not that I can't get the items. I just wanted to give a fellow wheeler the chance to off load some possible unneeded items and make afew bucks.

Sorry I meant over buying from Radioshack. They don't have much to choose from and a lot of it I wouldn't even use.

Hey,

Are you looking for a public service/whip antenna that's tuned for the CB? (Refer to mine)

Or are you looking for the standard plastic coated looking job? Where are you planning to put it up?

Also, what CB are you intending to use?


I'm all over this kind of stuff if you need any advice.

I am planning on using my cobra cb, as far as mounting the antenna I am not hard set on any place or spacific way of mounting, I wouldn't mind a whip as long as it has good range. I live in Wyoming so I need something that will go the distance.

If you can swing your radio with swing kit, that'd be awesome. Any amount of wattage outside of what is stock will throw your range like no other; dodge the echo mics too...just saying.

I use a Laird Technologies model C 27...it is specifically made for 27-31 Mhz transmissions within the business sector, ie quarries and road crews.

I had it tuned to 27.185, or somewhere in there, and it sings and receives wonderfully.

I have a lip mount on the driver side by the hood. Its a great location, and works out well there.

The only problem I have is when I'm bushwhacking and in low clearance, the damn thing comes whipping down into the cab. I've gotten some good marks on my arm from it and on the inside of the door. It has never hit a closed window.

If you need pictures or more information, let me know. I live for this kind of stuff outside of wheeling in the trailblazer, of course.

I had dial up for a long time and finally moved to a little town that had high speed.
I'm on DSL now and just upgraded from 1.25 MB to 5MB woo hoo.

There was a deal from the govt through hughes net to do satellite high speed to rural areas. I think folks get mixed results. My brother had it but switched back to tethering to his cell phone.

I used to install HughesNet. It's terrible if you've had any other type of broadband ever, but better than dialup.
