I cut my old cat off a couple years ago, thinking it might be plugged. Installed a new one and burned a hole through the element in that one in six months. (Probably a bad thermostat, replaced) Welded the stock one back on and left it.

My front manifold bolts back out over time, I have to tighten them more often than I've ever touched a set of header bolts. I've been dealing with that for years. I couldn't tell you if my manifold is cracked because it sounds like a diesel most of the time anyway. I've learned to live with it.

Enter Kooks.

A new stock cat/downpipe and manifold is ~$400. For $700, I replace all of that, pick up a few HP and (maybe) a couple MPG, and don't have to touch my welder?

No brainer.

Thats the shitty thing about having everything pretty much work on my truck. I would like to try both but dont have suspension or manifold issues so it is just replacing perfectly functioning stuff.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

I'm still curious to a basic header with no cat. Too bad this wasn't out sooner I could have got some magazine coverage for it.

We can do the off road version for $650.00 plus shipping.

Here is the concept ad for the header system.

My Trailblazer went in the shop at Kooks last week to have the prototype headers put on. There was a small fitment issue that is being worked out and the headers should be done this friday. after that it is off to PCM of NC for dyno testing and a tune.

Hmmm.... This seems like it might fall in line with my exhast replacement this spring. As long as the sound keeps smooth and not poopy like a civic, i might be down for one of these. Especially at that price!

I'm another one who's curious as to the sound. If I consider these, I don't want to sound like my high school rice burner days....
