Anything can happen, but I doubt it. These guys have been doing some pretty extreme off-roading for years. Going far beyond what any pencil-pushing engineer at GM would have ever thought these rigs were capable of. If there were major problems with the springs, they'd know it.
I've got the softer springs, with 3" lift kit up front, and a "leveling kit" in the rear, I rode around Gasser style for the first two weeks. It honestly looked like my rear shocks were blown compared to my fronts. I even removed the top spacer block so it wouldn't look so bad. My springs sagged back down after a couple of weeks and it finally looks like it's sitting right (with a slight rake to the rear). I may even put my top spacer block back in.
