Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

My plan for lifting with my limited knowledge about TB's...

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by ConradM » Sat Dec 25, 2010 11:49 am

First off, I don't even have the TB yet, getting it next week... But I've driven it a bunch and know for sure that it's lowered. I'm hoping I can get the stock springs for it. Is it only the springs that get replaced when you lower a TB?

As far as the lift I plan on using the Markmc lift and 1.5" spacers... Would that be enough to fit 33's? The truck will be used for light off-roading to get out to the desert..

Anything else I should plan on ordering? Not to concerned about off-road capability... Just need to ground clearance so I don't get high-centered out there...

hey bud just a friendly warning. the guys on this forum are very intent on making newbies read our threads before asking things like what tires will fit with this lift.

If you go through our site you will see there is a thread called " will it fit" theres another thread explaining shock options asnd the list goes on. Please take a look at our stickied threads, and tech articles to better inform your self and avoid being told to go read before you ask questions.

1. lowering a vehicle can be done with the balljoints, control arms, or springs.

2. if you want to run 33's you will have to trim your fenders, and probably require a body lift of some kind. best to message a member who has 33's

The Blistein HD shocks for the front
The BDS shocks for the rear

And maybe a body lift for the 33's, it really depends on the tires.

Maybe 32's then... Oh and I have been combing through old threads and while I've learned a ton... Most everybody has different setups.... Nothing to cookie cutter so it's better to ask no?

Are new shocks needed? How would the ride be on the road with the stock shocks? Like I said, this isn't going to be a trail rig or anything... At least not right away, just want it to get me out to the desert without getting stuck.

With it being lowered they may be running shorter shocks than stock. So you will need new shocks.

I have the bds lift with marks 1/2" spacer and I run 33" tires all day long with no problems no rubbing at full flex. The bds shocks in the rear are worth it all to have them.

I have 285 75 16 tires my tires are the pro comp x terrains.

Good idea to get new shocks for the front anyways since you'll most likely have to tear it apart anyways for the lift. I had to cut mine out due to rust issues so there was no reuse of the stock shocks. I was glad I had the new ones on hand

There is no "best" place. For items like factory springs, all sources are pretty much on par with one another. These guys are riding you simply because the existing discussions have already answered most of your questions. When coming to a specialized forum, it is expected that you do your homework. The flaming comes with the territory. Just chalk it up to the environment and try not to get offended.

It's just strange... This is the first forum I've ever been on where people are so reluctant to answer questions... Usually people are very eager for a chance to impart knowledge...

No offense dude, but when you see the same questions being asked over and over it does get old. There are a few ways you could lift your rig, its just you need to find that combo that works for you. I suggest looking at the build threads, I rummage through there from time to time to see whats out there.

It's a litmus test.

If you can search through the site and find answers to the most trivial questions - like what parts are needed for a lift, then we're willing to help you in your future endeavors much more. Once you get to the "ropes course", like building or picking a bumper, or trying to rebuild your differential, we will be much more likely to lend a hand.

If you're not willing to search and read the answers that have been discussed and laid out for you in the past, then please head to the sister site, trailvoy.com. There are many members there willing to help with the trivial details of a lift.

ORTB isn't here to gain more members, we're here to build vehicles and share information. Think of this site as a private treehouse fort. Prove to us that you're worthy, and we'll help you however you need.

To help you maybe get a little further in your searching... Most of us purchase the Bilsteins from shockwarehouse. BDS shocks can only be purchased direct from BDS or one of their approved shops. Merry Christmas.
