Ok, so we're going over some options here.

Now remember this will be a DD as well as a trail rider (and for the time being I mean a well maintained trail)

Will 285/75 16's fit ok with a 2.5" lift?

From a quick peak at our tire section and looking at the list of what fits with what lift, It shows 285/70 16's.

The 285/75's are showing needing 4".

You will also need spacers for either, and some trimming of the bumper cover, but this is minor and easily done.

Going to be ordering parts in steps as to not completely drain the tax returns in one fail swoop haha.

Lift tonight. Next up is struts and shocks, then spacers. Once all of that is here we'll be ordering 5 treadwrights.

The lift is the "gift" to the hubby. So once that comes in i'm sure he'll be on here.

Even got his friend in on it who owns an auto shop. Has ball joints and misc pieces on stand by for us in case while they're tearing it apart they run into problems.

285-75-16 will fit with marks 3" lift, with a good deal of cutting. And it will still rub in reverse and the wheel turned all the way. But the least amount of suspension lift with most ground clearance? Thats about as good as it gets.

I may be the guy that you are talking about. In the first 6 months of owning my 285/70-17 Guard Dogs I started to notice some cracking around the joint. I emailed them pictures and the next day I had a phone call from their warranty department telling me that they put me in the front of the line and I would have 5 new tires shipped within the next 24 hours. I asked if they were sending a return label for the tires and was told no, that they were mine to do whatever with. I went ahead and tossed them on craigslist for $750 for the 5 and they sold about 3 hours after I listed them.

I have put at least 40k miles on mine now including multiple 12 hour at a time trips and I have had no issues with them at all. My vehicle is primarily my daily driver, but I wheel it hard and often. When I am offroad they are aired down to 18psi and still hold up very nicely. I strongly recommend them.

Here is what we're working with: Image

Is there a picture of how much trimming would be involved? Just so we have an estimate

This is the video that Roadie made for trimming the back of the front wheel well. Same trimming I had to do. But clearly, we don't have the plastic bumper so that much about trimming the front, you'll have to ask someone else. And no trimming for the rear wheels is necessary.

With 265s, you shouldn't need any trimming... I think

Ok, then to go along with that.. Everyone is saying the Treadwrights are slightly bigger than normal brand tires. The Wardens are 32" and the Guarddogs 32.2"

Are we still going to be ok to run those?

If you don't want to have to trim the metal of the fender and only really do a little of the front bumper cover, go with the 265/75/16's. You will only have to do minimal trimming of the bumper cover and possibly adjust the bracket in the rear of the fenderwell for the trim piece that runs along the bottom of the TB.

Even if you go with Guarddogs, you should be ok with the 3" lift.

In my build, I have a picture of what will need trimmed off the bumper cover. 3rd page in, near the bottom currently. Very little trimming was needed on our TB. Though each one is slightly different as mentioned above.

Awesome Noel thank you very much. All in all I don't see that kind of trimming being an issue so that'll be ok

I did the 3" with the 265/75 gaurd dogs I had to trim just a smidge of the front bumper, there's pics in my build thread.

I trimmed for 285/70s on an envoy recently and that takes some good cutting on the fender and rocker cover.

Jason, in your build thread you have your "After lift" picture. Is that with or without the body lift? Because if that is what it (should) look like with the 3" and the 265/75 guarddogs then i'm sold!

I run marks 3" and the 265/70/17 treadwright warden at's and I rubbed only on the inner plastic fender. Love the tires just rotated them and they are wearing nicely. I will be buying all my tires from there now on.
