Finally breaking down and doing a body lift.

That is good to know. May have to rig something to get up and running and then switch them out when he has extras.

Body lift blocks have arrived:

And this is what will become the steering extension over the weekend:
Image
3/4" x 36" steel round bar. Draw some lines, grind some metal, and drill some holes and this will be as strong if not stronger than the production extensions. Going to have plenty left over. If I determine that it is totally safe, I won't be opposed to making a few extras.

It seems I need a stronger bit to drill the holes, but I've gotten the hard part finished in regards to the steering extension. Since the pipe I bought is the same size as the steering shaft, and the shaft itself it hollow, I ground down the rod to fit inside the shaft instead of outside. It seems to be very strong and I doubt there will be any problem with it. I know it is not the prettiest thing in the world, but it will be hidden.

Thanks, Brendan. Doesn't look to bad, but I haven't don any finishing passes with the grinder. Waiting until all of the test fitting is done and then I'll clean it up a little and throw some paint on it. I may have to install this all this week. If not, I'm thinking about trying to get up to Central somewhere to get a little mod meet goin.

Are those 3" blocks? I thought you were only doing 2".

Haha. I only got 12. Just so you know, It's no nearly as hard to put together a BL as you think. As long as you are willing to fabricate some of your own parts.

Here's hoping it goes down sooner rather than later. Potentially having some expensive 4x4 issues and may just have to sell some extra stuff.

What's your T-case not doing?

EDIT: Did a quick search on car-part.com. I don't know where in NJ you are but I see T-cases as low as $200 in your area.

It's not keeping it's fluid. I have a feeling that it is only the output shaft seal, but just preparing for the worst. I degreased it this morning, and I'm going to check it before dark to see if I can pinpoint the leak.

Edit: We're good. Output shaft seal :friday:

These bolts are for the 3" body lift, right?  So 2" body lift would
require 1" shorter bolts....

You are correct, those are for the 3" body lift.
