Z71 springs

IMHO the sag or no sag issue with take offs is just the luck of the draw. You don't know the mileage or constant load they were under in their previous life. So I believe statically you really can't rely on any of the data from the take off units because there is a unknown variable that community can't research other than the stock shocks that were designed to be use with them. So now we are back to individual opinions on the Z71 which have been blurred with this unknown variable swaying one way or the other. Basically meaningless.

However if new springs were purchased by a 10 - 20 members and say 5 of those sagged then we can look at historically how they were using them (constant load, etc) and what type of shocks (as Roadie stated) were paired with the failed units vs non-failed units. Anything other than this is just conjecture. My take is that the non-sag take off units to date are just pure chance that they have not sagged in the last 2-3 years with many miles on them.

Kyle, why are you creating dis-information? There are other threads to bitch in. Start a thread "Z71s suck" and post if you want. Not sure why you are doing this.

I've seen it with my own eyes. They are progressive springs, the first little bit is very soft. Enough hard use and weight, and the perch will be inside the first coil or two in time.

Those take offs are gone, about the best you're gonna do on ebay right now is 100 for the pair and $35 shipping.

Other aftermarket equivalents are 70-80 per spring, and GMpartsdirect wants $101 per spring.

The price didn't go up, the cheap source ran dry.

I did not even have much weight in my truck when the springs sagged. I've had way better luck with my skyjackers but I didn't hate my z71s. I believe as well it's luck of the draw.

mine looked new as well and while I don't put a lot of miles on my truck, many of the miles are dragging an 18ft bass boat.

I've towed a 3500lb boat every weekend during the summer on them for two years, no sagging issues. To me, that's been worth it as those springs handle the load much better than my stock springs did. That's without the airlift support bags too.

I've had mine on for almost a year. I've got about 12,000 miles on them. I've pulled a pop up camper as well as about a 6,000 lbs utility trailer. No sagging to date. With no weight on the rear I can see why some people would prefer a softer ride. I personally like it the way it is. I feel Z71 paired with Skyjacker shocks functions well with the Radflo front.

Anyone who has sagged Z71 spring tried turning them over? Might be an fatigue issue on those smaller coils vs the axle perch.

For all the flexing and bouncing I did, my Z71 springs never lost any appreciable height. They were also loaded regularly with work gear and towed on.

 Not sure if they will fit turned over Donny. Also, how would turning them over change the way the spring flexes?

Also, how would turning them over change the way the spring flexes?[/quote] They will fit both was but there is a tag on the spring that says frame side and axle side I believe
