Strut arm

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

I was under my trailblazer today installing my skid and was looking at my lower strut arms. Maybe I am imagining it but looks like mine arent in properly any more. I tried to tighten them but didnt give a millimeter. Here is a pic, sorry they were taken with cell phone...

I tried hitting it with a hammer some from the back to see if it would seat anymore and nothing. Maybe Im wrong but thought they seated in further before. Can someone verify this on theirs for me please....or just someone in the "know".

Also a little off topic but I was debating on leaving my stock spare under the truck. I was about to take it down since I cant use it anymore since I changed bolt pattern and now running 33's, but after looking at it I was thinking it may actually protect my exhaust if I was to drop off into a hole and catch the rear end.....what is your opinions. More on the truck function then as a spare since I cant use it as a spare anymore.

Those bolts look like mine. They're fine.

Lose the spare IMO.

Yep, your suspension's going to fall off any day now.

No, the reason it's like that is because the lower stud is actually mounted inside a bushing - so it's kinda floating inside the LCA.

For some reason I was thinking there was more thread showing before. Guess I was just imagining it. I appreciate it guys. So ditch the spare instead of leaving it to protect exhaust huh?

While it may protect the exhaust, it may also get you hung up on it.

Lose it, its extra unneeded weight.

Do you have another spare? A MINIMUM requirement for off-roading should be a spare tire of some sort.

At the moment no but since I only go riding with my buddy with the FJ we have talked about it and since we share same bolt pattern and tire size, he would let me use his to get back out. I do need to get a 5th tire though. I have a 5th rim now just no tire.
