Questions re: lifting and leveling my TB

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

:drive: Mabey somebody can help me over here.
I'm interested in lifting my truk, but I'm also interested in leveling it also.
I want the same ride hight front and back.

Question, Should I level my truk first then add the suspension lift, or the other way around? :?:

Hello sir, and welcome back to the forum.

I would love to answer your question, but first, I respectfully request that you read and adhere to our site rules, especially those regarding spelling and punctuation.

Suspension lifting is a complicated matter, and to better serve your needs, it helps to know how you intend to use your vehicle. Is this lift meant for offroading? Or is it meant for appearance and just to cruise on roads? Knowing your intents helps us greatly in advising you.

Thank you,

Philip

:| The miss-spelling of truck was intentional.
I've had my truck for just over a year now, i've taken it off road a bit(light trails), to go mtn biking and snowboarding.
So now I'd like to go bigger, a suspension and body lift.
I'm looking at BDS 2" lift and then later a BDS 2" body lift.
Another question just poped into mind; Is it recomended to change the CV joints because of the 2" lift or should they remain the same?
Last thing I want is potential binding because of a steep angle.

I'm seeing a lot more lifted rides in the Concrete Jungle,(N.Y.C.), lately. Some of them are even dirty,(no not fingerprints or garbage).
It's high time I do what I've always wanted to do, stand apart from the rest.

This is the start of something I know I will get hooked on.

Other truks (sp) have BDS and are fine with the stock CV boots. Just replace as needed.

No worries, sir. I find that having proper spelling and caps/grammar just makes it easier to read through everything we type, especially when we ask newbies to search around to find answers.

Now, back to your question. As far as CV joints, some of us have had problems with the boots loosening or splitting on the factory joints, in which case Cardone boots are supposedly more flexible, but I've had factory boots for 20k lifted miles, and I have yet to have any problems with them. Binding won't occur until around 4 inches, and we're still in the process of determining long-term reliability, as I'm sure you've read. Your mileage may vary.

As far as everything else goes, though, your plan sounds good. I'd go with both lifts, then put on 33's with spacers and call it a day.

Hope this helps,

Phil

My CV boots needed some 4" hose clamp love after I lifted. Haven't had a problem since.

I would also suggest taking a look at some of our build threads.

Specifically JamesDowning, and TheRoadie. They have a ton of great info, pictures, and reasons for their part choices.

 no hard feelings or words dudes, just picking your brains.
What about the front bumper, would I have to cut the fender to fit bigger size wheels after I get the lift?

Search, search, search :) Short answer is most likely the rear of the front fender, depending on how large you go. Plenty of threads and details for you to read and digest, we even have a magic search button in the upper right of page to help get you started :friday:

You need SKIDPLATES before any real offroading. The radiator is far to vulnerable. I would rather have a skidplated truck at stock height then a lifted and un-protected one. You will go farther...
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

 Thanks for that reminder, can't believe I forgot about that.

Skid plates are are a must. Around where i live, you see a lot of lifted Toyota's, but you can tell there for show. (you never see them dirty)

Whe I'm done with my rig, were hittin some dirt,(with some guidance of course). Can't wait.
Amazing, no matter how stressed I get, when I get in my TB, I'm in a different world.

:D

Till next time people, time for some beauty sleep.
