In the "Planning Stage"...

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Well, I am in the planning stage for building my 06TB. It will be my daily driver and my primary vehicle for my family (for now). I want it to have a more aggressive look and do better on some light off roading. Here is what I've come up with so far, let me know if I am missing anything.

-1.5" wheel spacer/adapters

-BDS lift in front with Z71 Tahoe springs out back (will this be level?)

-New shocks front/rear...unsure of brand or model, any suggsetions?

-Wheels/tires. Unsure if I want to go 17x8 with 4.5 backspacing and 265/65/17 OR 16x8 with 4.5 backspacing with 265/75/16. I know I am getting the Cragar Soft 8 wheels, had them on my last wheeler and loved their price to performance ratio. Any input here would be nice. Also, is there a way to correct our speedo? the main thing holding me back from a bigger tire is having a speedo that is way off...kind of a turn off to me, always has been. Suggestions?

-Body lift...unsure of 2 or 3 inch or if I even want to do a body lift. Pros/cons of both? Do they cause any issues with body gap on the bumpers? Steering shaft issues?

-SMAXX endlinks...possibly. What are the benefits of these?

-All the undercarriage armor I can get...a no-brainer.

-Alignment after all is said and done, again, a no-brainer.

Not sure if it will be level with this combo, I think you'll need Mark's spacer from his lift to level out the vehicle. I'm sure it's noted somewhere here on the site already though...

Check out http://jd.offroadtb.com/ and http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=77125

Body lift kits deal with the steering and bumper relocation issues and that's why they're so expensive compared to the hockey pucks and bolts to just lift the body.

Highly recommend Bilsteins up front, and BDS gas pressurized shocks in the rear. BDS inthe rear is pretty essential if you upgrade to the stiffer Z71 springs, since they were chosen by BDS and tested by some of us to be a good match.

SMAXX endlinks are of a different design that's more noise-proof over time, and they're rebuildable.

Thanks for the links...

So the body lift addresses the issues I was worried about...awesome. Still unsure if I want/need a body lift. I am thinking I might just keep the stock (or very close to it) tire diameter, and go for something a bit wider.

Bilstein HD's up front and BDS Gas in the back with stock springs up front, Tahoe Z71 springs out back, and BDS lift will be my suspension setup it looks like.

SMAXX end links seem to be a good upgrade...may as well add it to the list.

I was looking at the adapter/spacers that a lot of people seem to be using on here, and will end up with those in 1.5" to run 6x5.5" lug pattern.

Anyone have any input on whether or now my wheel/tire setup will work with teh 4.5" backspacing I was looking at? I want to go with probably a 30" tire, nothing outrageous. Any suggestions on a good M/T tire around the 10-11" wide range that has good on road manners? Any one recommend 16" wheels over 17" or vice versa? It's been a while since I have built something for wheeling, and definitely never built a TrailVoy before, so questions are abundant.

Thanks in advance!

for tires treadwrights retreads are a good tire, not too loud on road and great off road. Afew of us use them on here Im sure if you search the site you will be hard pressed to find anything bad said about them. Not to mention they are a fraction of the cost and you can request to have matching sidewalls so it doesn't look like you have miss matched tires on it. www.treadwright.com
