Smittybilt GEAR Seat Cover Review

A new goodie I've been looking forward to: Smittybilt front GEAR seat covers. Note, these are NOT the universal model, those wont work if you want to keep your side airbag

In a quest to find more storage in the front cab, I'm hoping this setup will work out nicely. I did a test fitting a while back at 4WheelParts and finally decided to pull the trigger on a set in black. I really liked how they use Molle/Pals type system to allow for a slew of attachments. Can't wait to hit a local gun show to find some more goodies Of course, Smittybilt provides a variety of 7 pouches w/ each cover to get your going and even offers water packs (camelbaks) that leverage the molle setup, w00t!

Another bonus are the molle straps on the very front of the seat along with some on the lower sides (although, the center console cancels out one side per seat). Easy access for flashlights, pocket knife, etc.

I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow when there is a bit more light. If anyone wants a particular angle, speak up

I saw that on Expo in some guy's build thread. Looked cool and certainly seems to help organization.

$89 from 4wheelparts during one of their sales (finally got around to picking up the second one today ). One seat cover comes with 7 miscellaneous pouches, by the way.

I stopped by a Military surplus today and snagged a couple more pouches along w/ a handgun holister, not that I could use it per say, legally

I'm really digging the storage. All the various flashlights, headlamps, camera and some maps now are stored behind my seat in easy reach yet tucked away. I have my spare knife on the left side of my seat with another pouch front and center for other miscellaneous items (currently cell phone, tire gauge).

cant you carry anywhere in the vehicle?

http://www.opencarry.org has the gun laws to confirm or debunk anything.

i like these seats.

if i can dig out my MOLLE shotgun scabbard it might help for my winter camping trips with something like this,and still be legal.

I plan to apply for my CWP once we elect a new Sheriff that actually respects law abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons: Vote http://www.sheriffjay.org/. Till then it's just a waste of paper and time as 99.99% of applicants get denied in San Diego County.

On the OpenCarry front, I simply don't trust cops enough to actually understand/care about the law and NOT harass me; let alone the majority of ignorant citizens. I just don't have the patience.

More power to the people who do and I admire their determination!!!

wow i cant believe i missed this topic. those are some sweeet seat covers. since i dont have leather seats yet, and wont for some time. i think this would be a nice addition to my truck

The univeral covers wont work with our trucks, atleast if you want to keep the side air bag. The universal also only 'wraps' around the top portion of the seat, nothing on the bottom. The universal are 99 for driver/passenger.

The ones I have are 99 for 1 cover, retail. I also waited till 4wheelparts had a sale, it's great saving a little change.

So they don't have a seat part or it doesn't strap down?

The universal has no seat part whatsoever. It also blocks the side air bag, so you'll need to disconnect that.

I have the regular covers which do have partial seat coverage and flaps on the front and both sides for more pockets.

So does the seat part on yours ride up as you get in and out since it isn't strapped down? I'm just curious trying to see which option would be best for me.
