Fender Flares--Lets share some info

I think only a couple of us have them, but several of us may be able to use them or need them for legal reasons.

I believe Roadie has the DIY flexy flares and Alek has the ATS ones.

I think I would like to have some with about 1.5 - 2 inches of coverage, which the ATS ones would provide, but since I cut my fenders I am not sure how they would work. I also am not a real fan of the flexy flares, but they may be the only ones I can get to work.

I was hoping to get something started for us to discuss the ones we have seen, tried, helped install, whatever. Even if they are not for our platform, some background on different ones, may be helpful for those wishing to adapt some or looking for a cleaner simpler fit.

IO also wonder if you can order just the rear for ours and mod something for the front, so the rear fits right with the door being part of the opening.

I have never had flares, so I ask those of you with experience...any ideas?

I was trying to find the ones from the north face, bc they definatley have factory flares. The other option is to fiberglass them.

In do time I'll most likely go with the ATS flares, but in your situation they wouldn't work without the obvious modification.
They are also rather pricey IIRC. I'd like to see some better pics of them and actual numbers, before I purchase tho. But that wont be for a while any way..

i have been looking at other platforms with a similar front and rear wheel openings... havnt had a lot of luck... think i found one mite work for the front.. but have since lost the info and need to start all over...

trying to find them so i can order the fronts or rears and modify slighty as needed to get them to fit... bout only things u can do with out going out getting custom ones made so far...

ATS only gives 3/4" extra coverage. Their anti-"flung material" characteristics are negligible.

For me, they give the illusion that my tires don't stick out as much. On the old blue Trailblazer it was less of a big deal because of the dark colour. But when I outfitted the white one, they seemed to stick out way more even though the measurements were the same. So adding the black ATS flares created an optical illusion of less protrudence.

So for now, a solution with any real benefits will have to be flexi-flares, or a complete custom/adaptation job with cutting the fenders.

i have the flexi flares. still in the box. i just dont know if i want to drill into my fenders. pluss my tires are pretty much even with my stck fenders. and im putting some of that clear 3m rock gaurd on certain parts of the body.

I was talking to Foosh today. As a result, there is a new thread in the vendor section about this very matter!! We wanna know what you guy want so we can try to build em. I got no job, so I have plenty of time to get these rolling asap. Plus, I need them for inspection in a month

You will, you will. The rears have already been discussed and will probably be tackled first, since they are more complicated.

I'm liking the pocket style myself. But I'll feel obligated to cut the fenders if I make em for mine.

Hers are factory and hard to find, but they're very expensive, like the aftermarket ones available.

D the northface flares actually stick out any further that 'stock'? Anyone have a better side shot than this?

Unless its just the color that makes them seem flared... the ones i've found are the after market flares and i meant they're really expensive for what they are. Theres definatley a little bit of flare, what really shows it is by the gas cap they had to cut out part or it, which on a normal TB theres no reason to do.

They are not really flares, just elevated body panels made for the North Face. I was working the innuendo angle. But thanks for taking me seriously, Tom.

Theres definitely body change there, i get what your talking about the whole lower panel is brought out a bit. Bottom line, what do you guys think about this idea? And what sizes would you want... I'm trying to get the mods to create a poll for this if they can.

These are the ones I was going to ask about at my shop to see if they would get them in for a fitting. These are the true cut-out style with 2" of coverage and functional bolts, probably enough for me as I want better coverage on my tires but not to go too overboard.



Pretty much exactly the style I have been looking for.

Thats basically what we'd be going for for the cutouts... the only way to make real cutouts is to make the top bolts functional.
