So I mentioned to my girl that I need an oil change, so I got sone deep dental work and prescribe me to take 3 xzanx before so I was knocked out. Now during this time she had free rein of my baby trailblazer, she got the oil changed her self , and did it her self , she told me and I was like awe babe thanks, till I found out that she used 5w20 now heres my question:

I use 5w30 like normal and was going to use 5w40 cause higher Milage , she got 5w20 oil :(

Will this hurt my engine swapping like that to a lighter oil??

P.s anything bad will be used for further disagreements against her ;)

Personally, I'd maybe run it in the winter if it's cold, or just change it...

Consider yourself lucky that your gf will have anything to do with cars! Don't hold it against her, ever.

Engines are designed for a specific operating weight of oil. Yes, car manufacturers are using lighter weight oils for less pumping losses, but they design engines with tighter clearances to keep adequate oil in the hydrodynamic bearings...

I'd change it, but advice is worth what you pay for it, and I won't take a dime.

That's too sweet!

Your oil should be fine just no racing!

Be proud of your girl! ;)

Yeah your GF didn't mess up, you just didn't inform her properly! ;)

Can't believe that she even did it herself, that's is beyond awesome!!

I was blown away when my wife wanted to watch me change the oil! :)

You're likely to be find with the 5W-20 beings the temps have been fairly cold for most of the country. I just wouldn't recommend leaving it in there when it warms up.

Just have to educate your GF a bit on the in's and out's of your vehicle. My wife changes the oil in our vehicles during the warmer seasons, and loves helping me work on them as well. I feel much better about having her drive alone this way as I know if something goes wrong, she'll atleast have an idea of things to look at if there is a problem.

She mows the grass too btw. Fixes breakfast most mornings and goes out to start my work truck when it's cold out while I eat my breakfast. Guys at work are jealous, but I just tell em not to hook up with the local girls. Gotta find em from out of the area is all to get a decent girl.

Mine doesn't change the oil, but she know's how to aswell as change a tire.. She also has dinner on the table when I get home, and can skin a deer faster than I can!!

Mine cooks rarely, doesn't like to get dirty, camp, or be outside of cell coverage. She knows that the quickest way to get her car fixed involves a cell phone and my number.

But, she makes some mean drinks, appreciates (and sometimes takes part in) my geekiness, likes my friends, is a great mom, brings me home random gifts just because, and looks smokin' hot while doing all these things.

Besides, I'm a better cook anyway.
