Winch mount opinions

Got to looking at mine after reading this thread and noticed the hitch mount has been twisted...now what to do?

Buy another HF mount, or build one! lol Check carefully though, it appears the winch is turned in the mount. Are you sure the mount itself is twisted? You may be able to just loosen the bolts and align the winch.

I guess putting my 12,000# winch on that plate isn't a good idea! lol I was planning to build one anyway. I'm not happy with the stock I had at my house, so I'm gonna check it out at work tomorrow.

Why not just put some stiffening ribs on the plate?

It looks like less the plate it twisted and more that the mounting holes just aren't straight. The winch isn't straight on the plate that it's mounted on.

if you look close at the second pic Brent posted the plate has been pulled upwards at the passenger rear bolt for the winch. I would think if there was a lip there it would have possibly prevented it.

Correct. I haven't put a straight edge on it but its out about an inch.

That plate looks like 10ga (.135) or something, too, not even 3/16" (let alone 1/4), not even with a flange on the back side. Worse than that, since it's from HF, it's CHINA sheetmetal, which is of much lower quality than US-forged sheetmetal. Especially without a flange at front and back, it was bound to do that.
