COMPLETED: Day trip to Hunter Creek, BC

Over coffee and doughnuts at Tim Hortons the other evening, a couple of buddies and myself decided to scout a new area about an hour from home that we'd never gone to before, Hunter Creek Forest Service Rd., south of HWY 1, in the Fraser Valley. The road starts from the access road to the Hunter Creek rest stop, and is not clearly marked, but we found it after only 1 false start. The road climbs steeply right from the start, rising from just above sea level to about 6000' at the 11km mark of the highest of 3 forks, so 4LO was used for both the climb, and the descent, to keep the engine, tranny,and brakes happy and cool. The road surface was generally pretty good, with some washboard, and occasional loose rocks large enough to touch suspension, skidplates, or frame of my unlifted,stock tired EXT. The road is too narrow for passing most of its length, but has pullouts every few km to allow logging trucks to pass each other. It would be rated between 1.5 and 2 on the trail guide, so it's not really a challenge to any stock 4x4.

One of the guys brought his 15 year old daughter along, and she really enjoyed the experience. The route is heavily forested , with numerous logging clearcuts in various stages of regrowth, with the active logging site at the very end of the east fork road, which is the one we drove. The reward for our trip was the view from the top of the trail, with peaks all around us, and both forks of the creek spread out below us. Here's some pictures from the top:

DirtyBacon04, you're yanking my chain, right? Your location says Florida, where a mountain is anything over 50 ft., and most of those are landfills.
